Debra’s Delights

The past couple days it has been raining very heavily and last night I decided in the midst of a downpour to run out to Walmart.  When I got onto the 3 lane highway that Walmart was on I noticed that the cars were slowing down and I did not realize that it was because the 3 lane highway was flooded.  I proceeded to get in the farthest left lane like everyone else.  I began to pray, Jesus - Jesus - Jesus help all of us get through this.  As I proceeded in the line of cars there were vehicles that did not make it and the water was up to the top of their wheel wells.  I started to cry, yes cry and fear started to grab ahold of me.  I kept saying Jesus-Jesus-Jesus help us get through this.  I knew I had approx 1 1/2 miles to travel to get to a road that would take me into my home the back way.  I kept looking to see if I could turn around but I could not.  I continued to move forward with the rest of the cars when all of a sudden pick up trucks and SUV’s started to pass us all on the right and cause 2-3 foot waves to begin to crash into and onto our cars, I began to blow my horn and flash my lights in an effort to show them they were putting us in a more hazardous position and “they got it” and slowed down and moved into our lane to proceed forward.  I kept moving forward, fearful and praying the whole time (imagine that).  I came upon an intersection that actually was dry in the center, I pulled into the left turn lane and sat in the middle of the intersection shaking, crying and asking God what I should do.  I could of turned around or I could go forward.  I noticed that the cars behind me were far enough back and the cars in front of me were far enough ahead for me to “gun” it and keep going forward.  Well, within one block I was out of the flooding and back on a normal wet road.  I realized at that point that God was speaking to me and telling me that many people do just what I did in the midst of the storm or circumstance; the fear rises and they start out pressing and pushing forward only to come to the place where they pull over and stop long enough to make a decision to either turn around and go back or to step out and press on forward into the unknown.  I knew what was back there - I had just come through it but I did not know what laid ahead.  I realized if I turned around I would just be going through what I just came out of, so I made the decision to face the unknown, trust God because He had brought me that far and move forward.

Is your miracle “one block” away?  Is the end of your trial one final push away?  DO NOT give up - press through the fear in order for your faith to take ahold and propel you forward!! 

I love how God uses these things in my life to bring forth a message of encouragement.  Believe me when I was going through it, I was far from thinking that it could be a blessing to someone else.  It was not until I was through it and on “higher ground” that I realized why I had to go through what I had to go through last night.  It was a sign in my own life that my miracle is just “one block,” one final push, pursuit away. 

KEEP PRESSING ON!!!!! and be of good cheer because you will reap if you do not faint, if you do not turn back.

In this season, BE THANKFUL for the little things as well as the larger blessings.  It is as simple as that!!

Everything starts with you, your decisions, your procrastination, your choices; it all starts with YOU.  What you have on your inside is going to manifest on the outside.  What do you think about yourself?  Do you feel unworthy, useless, like it is constantly an uphill climb?  Start changing how you look at yourself by changing the way you think!  God’s word says that we are to renew our minds, that means we have to replace the old stinking thinking with new thinking, you have to see what God says about you, what He says belongs to you and then run your race set before you.  It is a marathon not a sprint so run one day at a time, one curve, one hill, one mountain at a time.  KNOW as you focus on the promises and goals set before you eventually you will reach your destination, as long as you are moving.  Remember, its an inside job and only you can change YOU, you are not responsible for changing someone else nor are you responsible for making everyone else feel better.  I challenge you to focus on God and YOU and watch what He does for you, in you and through you.  PEACE!!

This is the day that the Lord has made, I WILL be glad and rejoice in it!  You have a decision to make today - are you going to make today count or are you going to complain about the would of’s, could of’s or should of’s?  I have decided to make my day count for something, whether it be making someone smile or just having a kind word for someone who otherwise might be having a difficult day.  Do you know that you can make someone else’s day just by displaying a positive attitude?  Hey, what have you got to lose?  The negative attitude?  The complaining attitude?  GET RID of IT and MAKE YOUR DAY COUNT!

New birth - new beginnings, newness brings an excitement into the atmosphere.  I want to challenge you to start something new whether it be cleaning out that closet you have been putting off or starting that new business that you have been procrastinating about - DO IT!!  Doing something new causes you to be creative and when we are creative we are imitating our Father who created everything - all we are doing is using what He all ready made to manifest what is needed into our lives.  YOU CAN DO IT!!

This is the day that the Lord has made I shall rejoice and be glad in it!

What do you do when you don’t feel like rejoicing in your day?  You “change” your mindset.  Sometimes getting through your day depends on what YOU chose to meditate on.  Are you rejoicing in the problem or are you looking at the problem as an opportunity to grow?  This is the day to make the decision that is going to better your life.  This is the day, your only “today” so why not rejoice and be glad in it, it is a gift - look at it as such and watch how your day ends up!

Today is YOUR day and you can make it what you want it to be!  Even though you may be “hit” with different things throughout your day - determine within yourself NOT to let them shake you off course.  Sometimes I stop and think “what if this was the last day I had, would I let this bother me?  Would I let this situation steal my joy?”  Think about that as you go through your day!!
